BEMIDJI – Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a car accident that killed one person on Thursday, according to a statement from the Bemidji Police Department.
At 4:26 a.m. on Thursday, June 10, the Bemidji Police Department responded to a car accident that left injured people on the 1200 block of Delton Ave. NW. Upon arrival, emergency services discovered a 2003 Chevrolet Impala traveling south that collided with a tree in a courtyard.
Officials and rescue workers immediately began providing life-saving care to the driver of the vehicle, who had to be rescued from the car. The driver was then transported to the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center and later pronounced deceased, the statement said.
The victim’s name will be withheld pending family notification and an ongoing investigation.
Other rescue workers who helped on site were members of the Bemidji Ambulance Service, the Bemidji Fire Department and the Beltrami District Sheriff.
