Like so many others, I have been working at home for the past year, and along the way I have picked up a few tips and tricks. One thing I have learned is that it is important to get the right equipment; it does not have to break the bank, but by using the right equipment it can increase your training seriously. I used to take a lot of sculpture and pilates lessons, and every time we got to mat work, my knees would hurt and I had to fold my mat up two or three times until I got well. That is, until I bought this BalanceFrom GoYoga + All-Purpose 1/2-inch extra thick yoga mat and knee pad ($ 21).
This mat is so thick and padded, it feels more like a pillow, but it has enough grip so you can still move with it. Since I started using it, I have not worried about my knees when doing leg lifts or fire handles, and my wrists have also been comfortable in planks, something I never thought would happen. I would stay away from this mat if you are a serious yogi working on inversions or complicated balance because I think you need a little more stability with the floor. But if you’re like me and just trying to get a good sweat hood in, this is the mat to choose. When I bought it, I just needed a yoga mat and did not expect any super high quality, but a year later it held up perfectly. I love it so much I even bought it for a second.
