GLOVERSVILLE – A male adult cyclist was seriously injured in a car accident on East Fulton Street Monday night.

The city police announced in a press release this morning that the names of those involved in the accident have not yet been made public.

The press release states that members of the Patrol and Detective Department of the Gloversville Police Department responded at around 5:59 p.m. on Monday on East Fulton Street near the intersection with Fox Street to get a report on a cyclist, that was hit by a motor vehicle.

Police said preliminary investigations suggest the motor vehicle was traveling east on East Fulton Street while the cyclist was traveling west on East Fulton Street.

The release said the cyclist suffered “significant” physical injuries and was treated on site by Lake-Valley EMS, eventually flown to Albany Medical Center for treatment. The cyclist was staying in intensive care at the time of his release this morning, police said. Its status is officially listed as “critical,” Police said.

The Gloversville Police Department received on-site support from the Saratoga County Crash Reconstruction Unit.

The investigation of the crash remains active. Neither the identity of the driver nor the cyclist is currently publicly disclosed, according to the press release.
