Around four in five British adults experience pain and aches and pains

It is estimated that around 86 percent of adults in the UK experience regular pain[1] – In fact, four of the most common health conditions in the UK are pain related.

Headaches, muscle pain, joint and back pain are always at the top of the list – migraines, menstrual pain and arthritis are close behind.

Ifeefa Nisar, a Boots pharmacist in Nottingham, is happy to advise clients and cites back pain as a disease where the holistic approach can be effective.

“Back pain is very common, especially in the lower back,” she explains. “About four in five adults have back pain at some point * and can range from mild to severe (for which you would need to see a family doctor).

Always at the top of the list are headaches, muscle pain, joint and back pain – the latter are particularly common in the lower part of the back

“You can take steps to reduce your risk of back pain. This includes regular exercise, maintaining a healthy weight, taking care of lifting, and making sure your mattress has adequate support.

“It is also important that you have good posture, especially when you are seated. It might also help to take short walks to separate if you’re sitting or standing for long periods of time. «

In the short term, there are many ways to deal with the symptoms of mild to moderate back pain and there is no need to suffer in silence.

“We can talk to you about the various options for short-term pain relief,” says Ifeefa.

“Did you know, for example, that tablets and capsules are not your only options? There are also pain relieving gels, sprays, patches, heat and cooling therapies, and even insoles that you can wear in your shoes. ‘

“And sinus headaches *** are usually felt in the forehead, cheeks, and bridge of the nose.”

Ron Gregson has been a Boots pharmacist for 28 years and is passionate about understanding people’s needs and providing a level of care tailored specifically to their individual needs.

He realizes that pain can be different for everyone. An example is muscle and joint pain.

“We know it can be difficult to tell whether your pain is muscle or joint related. However, if you have mild to moderate joint or muscle pain, contact your local Boots pharmacist who can provide advice, information, and appropriate products for you, ”says Ron.

Muscle tension is most common in the knees, feet, legs, or back and is usually due to overstretched or torn muscles. Sprains occur when a ligament in the joint is torn or twisted. These are most common on wrists, ankles, thumbs, and knees.
