Therapist Megan Zuzevich takes part in the Insight Treatment Radio Show and discusses what holistic therapy practice is and why she personally believes in it.

Megan Zuzevich is a licensed holistic marriage and family therapist. Zuzevich specializes in PTSD, vicarious trauma, and general anxiety.

Holistic treatment focuses on treating the whole person, not just treating the disease. Zuzevich examines mental, physical and spiritual aspects in order to treat her clients.

“When it comes to mental health, mental health is everything. I think it’s really important to look at the body as well. Especially when it comes to treating trauma, trauma bodies store our bodies, our bodies hold our emotions and our emotional experiences, ”said Zuzevich.

Zuzevich also mentions how she encourages her customers to think about themselves and what they want to do. Some customers need to learn to give themselves permission to do the things they enjoy doing. It is very easy to get caught up in a list of tasks that need to be done. Some customers may need to stop and talk to themselves. They may need to wonder if they are doing the things they need to do to take care of themselves and make themselves happy.

Related Insight Treatment Center Talks About How To Connect With Teens Instead Of Correcting Them

As teenagers begin to understand the world in a bigger context, it can lead them to discover who they are and how they exist in society. When everyone grows up they feel like an individual for the first time. Teens may not verbalize what they are feeling as often as they should, leading to anxiety and depression.

Megan Zuzevich also specializes in PTSD and EMDR therapy. In Zuzevich’s opinion, EMDR is the most holistic treatment of all. EMDR stands for desensitization and reprocessing of eye movements. EMDR is a treatment that safely takes clients back to a traumatic time in their life to process the emotions they may not be able to explain in the present. Although EMDR was first practiced only for PTSD, it has been used to treat anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, eating disorders, and more.
