New app aims to promote healthy aging by reducing chronic illnesses, especially among the socio-economically disadvantaged

FREMONT, CA, UNITED STATES, Jan. 26, 2021 / – The Joe and Emmy Liu Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) business foundation, announces the launch of a holistic health app called L Life for Proactive Lifestyles, Reduction the displacement of chronic diseases and the promotion of active aging. The app is available free of charge from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), chronic illnesses have negatively impacted our quality of life and longevity, mainly due to risky lifestyle habits. Over 60% of the country’s adults suffer from one or more chronic diseases. Additionally, the United States spends nearly $ 4 trillion (~ 20% of GDP) annually on health care, over 80% of which is due to chronic illness. Our national average lifespan is about 79 years and ranks 46th among the nations – about 6 years less than 6 years shorter than Japan and Singapore. Fortunately, there are new ways to overcome this.

In a recent Harvard lifestyle research study, over 100,000 faculty members aged 50 and over were surveyed over a period of 34 years. The study followed five lifestyles: diet; Weight control; daily exercise, no smoking; and no excessive drinking. Those who scored high in these areas had fewer chronic illnesses and average life expectancies of 12 and 14 years per person, respectively, for male and female groups.

Intrigued by Harvard’s evidence-based study of lifestyle choice, the Liu Foundation developed a free L Life app to promote holistic health through conditioning lifestyle choice, shifting chronic disease, and active aging.

The aim was to invent a two-minute app that integrates healthy lifestyles to prepare users for a proactive life. The L Life app recommends 13 healthy lifestyle options, using Harvard’s five lifestyle options as the foundation for additional mental, social, financial and medical healthy lifestyles in a holistic health app. It provides health and longevity, summary, coach, team, and histogram features to motivate users to change lifestyle, encourage app adherence, and position it as a holistic health app for a lifetime.

Modern telehealth has simplified remote care and helped more people. As an offshoot of this trend, the L Life app aims to help more people lead proactive and healthy lives through technology. The bottom line is that frequent use of the L Life app can help people lead healthier, happier, longer, and more active lives.
