Life University (LIFE) awarded 208 degrees to College of Graduate and Undergraduate Studies (CGUS) and College of Chiropractic (COC) graduates in a joint opening ceremony on Friday, June 18, 2021. Seventy-one students earned bachelor’s degrees, 25 earned master’s degrees, and 112 earned LIFE’s flagship PhDs in Chiropractic (DC).
The physical distance ceremony was held at the Cobb Galleria Center and was also broadcast live to viewers on the university’s YouTube page so that family members, loved ones and other members of the LIFE community around the world could celebrate with the graduates on the landmark occasion in their lives.
Silja Rós Petursdottir was honored as CGUS valedictorian and NeAziah Caba as salutator, both of whom graduated with summa cum laude.
“Life goes by quickly, so don’t waste a minute,” Petursdottir urged her fellow students. “This is your life; do what you want and love to do. It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t work because it’s better to regret the things we did than to regret the things we didn’t do . “
Rebecca Rose Oliveira was the farewell speaker for the COC, Sarah Dawn Bate was the salutator and Heidi Marie Webb was honored for the chiropractic philosophy award, all three of which graduated with summa cum laude.
“We’ve all gone through tremendous changes over the past year,” said Oliveira. “But with times of change comes the beauty of transformation and possibilities. This unique time in our life has made it possible for all of us to be reminded of what really matters in life. Today, more than ever, people are realizing the true value of their health and the value we bring through chiropractic care. The roller coaster ride through the school during a pandemic brought us here today, at the right time, in the right place. “
Six students were recognized as role models for the values of Life University at the ceremony. The Lasting Purpose Award was presented to Andrea Y. Brooks (CGUS) and Holly Ann Simon (COC). Cheryl Blaxton (CGUS) and Jayda Catrice Williams (COC) received the Integrity Award. The Vitalism Award was given to Dina Fahmy (CGUS) and Fatih Velijoski (COC).
