A man was flown to John Hunter Hospital in a severe but stable condition after a car accident on the Pacific Highway north of Taree. At around 7.30 p.m. on Monday, February 1, paramedics, firefighters and police officers were called to the site in Ghinni Ghinni where a 33-year-old man suffered several broken legs. He was trapped in the vehicle before being released by the emergency services. The patient was treated on site by paramedics before being taken to Taree Airport to meet the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service and the critical care medical team. The man is being treated for the injuries at the Newcastle hospital. Just two and a half weeks earlier, emergency services were called onto the highway in Ghinni Ghinni to handle a multiple vehicle accident.
