Your advice

Then we would like to hear all about you. You will be Dr. Meet Myers and he will ask appropriate questions to better understand your perspective on the problem. Tell us about your symptoms and what made you seek chiropractic care.

Your chiropractic exam

Your explanation of symptoms is your subjective view of your condition. To develop a more objective understanding of what is going on with your body, Dr. Myers conduct an investigation.

The exam will include a few tests to determine your range of motion, posture, and neurological function.

X-rays are the last part of the examination. They enable Dr. Myers to see what’s going on internally.

Schedule your next appointment

Dr. Myers is reluctant to treat patients on their first visit. “I want to be sure that I have all the information I need first.”

He’ll develop your x-rays himself, but not until the end of the day. When Dr. Waiting until your second appointment to begin care, Myers has time to review the information from your consultation, exam, and x-ray to determine the best course of action.

“We make sure we know everything we can about you and your condition in order to find the best plan to help you in the shortest time.”

Second visit

Your second visit is scheduled as soon as possible after the first. It usually takes 30 to 45 minutes and includes the following:

  • Dr. Myers will go over your x-ray and exam results to explain what he found.
  • Dr. Myers will provide recommendations for your care. Based on the information he has gathered. He will tell you whether he thinks he can help with your condition or not. If he can’t, he’ll refer you to someone else. If he can, he will recommend a treatment plan.
  • After presenting you with his results and recommendations, Dr. Myers will be happy to answer any questions you have about your treatment, including financial aspects.
  • You will receive your first customization.

At the end of your care plan, Dr. Myers re-examine you. You can see exactly how far you have come in terms of pain, range of motion, etc. since your first visit.

At this point, you can choose whether to proceed with chiropractic care or long term wellness care. You also have the option to stop caring and come back if you have another problem.

Dr. Myers, your family chiropractor in Johnson City, makes chiropractic adjustments. Of course he doesn’t start with that. During your first appointment, you and Dr. Myers to discuss your pain levels and symptoms.

Based on this information, Dr. Myers infer what is causing your pain. You will then be given an exam that will confirm this diagnosis. X-rays show Dr. Myers, where there is bodily harm, if any.

At your next appointment, Dr. Myers ordered a re-examination to be sure. At this point, Dr. Myers begin his adjustments in chiropractic. This is a series of spinal techniques that target the source of pain.

Again, it is easy for a chiropractor to reduce painful symptoms. Without treating the real source of the pain, these symptoms return. With regular adjustments in chiropractic care, your pain may stop altogether or be significantly better. This gives you the freedom to live your life the way you want.

Gonstead and Diversified Techniques

At Myers Chiropractic, we combine styles of fitting commonly referred to as “Gonstead” and “Diversified”. First, an analysis of your spine is carried out. This may initially include a medical history and x-rays of your spine.

Follow-up visits may include motion sensing, where the chiropractor will feel the spinal joints move as you twist and bend. Or leg controls can be performed to reveal an imbalance in the neck or lower spine.

When the misalignment of one or more spinal bones is identified, a specific manual push is administered. The direction, speed, depth and angle used are the result of years of experience, practice, and a thorough understanding of spinal mechanics.

The energy released during the thrust can produce a slight “pop” when moving gas and liquids in the joint. This sound may be interesting, but it is not an indication of the value or effectiveness of customization.

While improving the biomechanics of the spine can reduce disorders of the nervous system, virtually all joints in the body can be adjusted to restore proper range of motion.

“The only alternative to chiropractic is a life of less than full expression.”

Pediatric Chiropractic

Children can suffer from problems in adulthood ranging from ear infections to colic. Spinal adjustments can help with childhood illness by improving the functioning of the central nervous system. In addition, children benefit from nutritional advice, as it allows them to maintain an ideal weight and develop good eating habits early on.

Older children often suffer from sports-related injuries. Sprains, strains, and inflammation can prevent children from participating in organized sports until their injuries have healed. Visiting a chiropractor can help children recover faster from their injuries and relieve their pain.

Chiropractic is gentle enough to be helpful even for the youngest child. Chiropractors are specially trained to work with patients of all ages, including infants, toddlers, and teenagers. In fact, chiropractic can be safer than some traditional medical treatments because chiropractic does not involve invasive procedures or addictive substances.

Lifestyle advice

Many of our patients come to our chiropractor to treat a specific pain symptom such as back pain, neck pain or headache. While our chiropractor treats each patient’s specific condition with chiropractic care, we often find it helpful to “coach” our patients towards healthier lifestyles. For example, there may be certain activities that you should avoid or do differently to prevent inadvertently making your particular health problems worse. The goal of including lifestyle counseling in a chiropractic plan is to help each patient achieve the fulfilling and happy lifestyle they deserve and which is full of activities that are most fun. We understand that each and every one of our patients is a whole person and we use our expertise to help them achieve health and wellbeing
