Dominic Cummings Covid Inquiry LIVE: Updates when former PM aide was interviewed about coronavirus strategy

Dominic Cummings, the Prime Minister’s former chief adviser, will appear before MPs this morning to discuss the government’s handling of the pandemic.

Downing Street is poised for more explosive revelations from the Prime Minister’s former chief adviser as he makes the highly anticipated appearance.

Last night, Mr Cummings made a number of allegations that the original response to the coronavirus outbreak was to pursue a “herd immunity” strategy.

In a series of explosive tweets, he said the policy of building resistance by allowing the disease to spread to some extent only ended in March last year after warnings that it would lead to a “disaster”.

The Science and Technology Committee and the Health and Social Care Committee take place at 9.30 a.m.
