When you talk about your mental health, do you feel like people are downplaying your symptoms or not just believing in you? If you have depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder or other mental illness, you have probably heard “it’s all in your head”, “why do not you just get over it,” “things are not so bad.” But what if we talked about mental illness as we talk about physical illness?

As TikToker @ carlie_chimenti1 points out, it’s ridiculous to assume that a mental illness is not “real” just because we can not see it. Would it make sense to tell someone with a broken leg to just get over it, or that it’s not that bad because someone else has broken their leg worse? Exactly. See her place on TikTok above and share it with anyone who is in doubt about the validity of mental illness.
