INTERNATIONAL CASES Minn. – At around 4 p.m. on February 27, 2021, a border guard assigned to International Falls Station responded to a call from a single snowmobile accident near Rainier Beach in Rainier, MN.

Upon arrival on site, the agent identified the victim who needed immediate medical attention. The agent began a quick investigation into the injured man, who appeared to be suffering from a head injury. He then provided first aid while maintaining constant verbal contact with the man until the emergency services arrived on site.

Once on site, EMS took over the care of the agent, who then supported the transport of the victim via a medical sledge to a waiting ambulance in order to transport him to a nearby hospital for further treatment and observation.

Lake of the Woods ice road

WARROAD Minn. – At around 7:00 p.m. on February 27, 2021, a border guard assigned to Warroad Station encountered an accident involving two vehicles along the Northwest Angle ice road, which crosses the Lake of the Woods and connects the Angle with the continental United States.

The agent was able to provide first aid while relaying his exact location to the responding units at the Lake of the Woods County Sheriff’s Office and EMS, who arrived on site shortly thereafter.

Once local authorities arrived and took control of the scene, the agent helped transport an ambulance and the injured person to a waiting fire truck for further assessment.
